Navratri to Diwali: Skincare Dos and Don’ts for the festive season

Published:

The festive season is not the time to experiment with a completely new skincare routine.

On busy days stick to basics:

Cleanser → Moisturiser → Sunscreen.

If you already use a serum regularly and skin tolerates it well you can continue using it.

But avoid introducing new products just before an important event; an unexpected irritation or breakout is the last thing you want before a party.

Retinoids and exfoliating ingredients such as AHAs and BHAs can be useful for improving skin texture and pigmentation over time. They can also cause dryness or irritation particularly when introduced incorrectly.

For a boost of hydration ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and peptides can be useful additions provided skin already tolerates the product well.

Quick pre‑party tip: If skin is comfortable with sheet masks you can use a hydrating sheet mask for around 15–20 minutes before getting ready.

It can give skin a hydrated plumper appearance and help makeup apply more smoothly.
