Tyler Cameron may look confident on camera, but apparently proposing to Tate Madden was enough to make even the Dancing with the Stars hopeful lose his cool.
The Bachelorette alum, 33, admitted he “freaked out” when the time came to propose to Madden during their romantic beach getaway at Florida’s Little Palm Island.
The couple announced their engagement on Instagram on August 15.
“The proposal was nerve-wracking because everything I wanted to say was gone,” Cameron told People magazine after the Dancing with the Stars season 35 cast reveal.
“I freaked out,” he continued. “I wrote [my proposal speech] before so I could share it with [Madden] no matter what, but it all left me. I freaked out.”
So much for the perfectly rehearsed Hollywood proposal.
Cameron, who is usually “calm, cool and collected,” now has a completely different kind of pressure waiting for him: the DWTS ballroom.
He’ll compete with pro partner Sharna Burgess, while Madden plans to cheer him on “every week.”
“She’s a dancer herself,” he said. “So, she’s pitching herself seeing Sharna and Witney [Carson] and all these other amazing cast members. This was her dream as a little kid, too. So to be here, she’s just eating this up.”
Cameron didn’t hesitate when DWTS came calling, describing his response as “the quickest ‘yes’ ever.”
Meanwhile, wedding planning has already begun — although Cameron is still figuring out which brother gets best-man duties.
“I’ve got two brothers, so maybe a little, I don’t know, coin flip, rock paper scissors, we’ll see what happens,” he joked.
One thing is certain: between the wedding and the Mirrorball chase, Cameron has a very busy season ahead.
