Shania Twain reflects on biggest lesson menopause taught her

Shania Twain recently got candid and opened up about why she finds menopause a blessing.

The Times published the 60-year-old Canadian singer-songwriter’s interview on Saturday, June 13, in which she reflected on her struggles with her self-image and how she couldn’t even face looking at her own reflection during her Las Vegas residency in 2019.

Voicing her thoughts, Twain shared, “I stopped looking at myself in the mirror. I hated my body. I’m, like, ‘Oh, I cannot stand this changing body.’ But that was so unhealthy. Who cannot look at themselves in the mirror?”

She went on to reveal that her body started behaving differently as she advanced in her advancing age, making her realize that she needed to change her habits and routine to achieve a healthy body.

“So all of a sudden I’m bloating, and I’m definitely not in control,” the Queen of Me songstress recounted. “I can’t just lose five pounds. I was doing very unhealthy things.”

“And I was working my body more than I was feeding it to keep up with the strain,” Twain noted.

She had stopped having proper meals in order “to be thinner,” which ultimately led her to be “malnourished” and made her onstage injury worse; however, after facing problems for more than half a decade, she finds herself completely transformed.

“Now I’m like, bring on the mirrors, I’m going to look at myself all day long! “Menopause has been very good for me because I’ve learned that some things you cannot control,” Shania Twain stated.
