Ever since Oasis announced their 2027, they have left the music world ecstatic as preparations for their shows begin.
Local authorities are drawing up a travel “masterplan” to prevent traffic congestion when Oasis perform four nights at Knebworth House in 2027.
Stevenage Borough Council said it was working with Hertfordshire County Council, highways officials and the venue after previous concerts left roads heavily congested.
The authority’s leader, Richard Henry, said, “We’ve got a ‘masterplan’ in terms of planning because it’s a bigger concert. We hope that this time it’ll be perfectly run so that people don’t look back in anger.”
Matt Whitfield, assistant manager of the nearby Lytton Arms pub, said the area was “literally gridlocked” when Iron Maiden performed at Knebworth earlier this year.
“People were saying it took 45 minutes or two hours just to get to work. The roads were gridlocked out here. If they can manage that better next time this will be an amazing thing for both the pub and the community,” he added.
Similar complaints came after Queen’s final concert with Freddie Mercury in 1986, Robbie Williams’ shows in 2003 and Liam Gallagher’s gig in 2022.
As per BBC, on-site camping will be available for Saturday ticket holders, and extra trains will run between Stevenage and London after the shows.
Stewards and lighting will be provided along the two-mile (3.2km) route between Stevenage station and Knebworth House, which the council said would be enhanced with “murals and things so it’s an enjoyable walk.”
Henry also mentioned, “There’ll be shuttles as well for people that need that transport, but if we make it a pleasant walk, and the stops along the way, then that can be added to the experience that they’re going to have.”
“We’re already working on that plan with all the partners and we’re hoping that very soon we’ll be able to do some testing on that because of the numbers of people that are coming,” he concluded as discussions for preparation of Oasis’ return to the live stage remain underway.
