Miranda Lambert breaks silence on longstanding rumors of assault

Miranda Lambert has addressed an incident back when she allegedly once hit Nickelback front man Chad Kroeger in the face.

In an interview for The New York Times‘ Popcast podcast on Thursday, co-host Joe Coscarelli asked the country singer-songwriter to set the record straight on the gossip.

“True or false: you hit Chad Kroeger in the face,” he asked, referencing a story from 2010.

Despite being “nervous” to respond, Lambert insisted she never hit Kroeger.

However, she did admit to throwing a drink at him. “I threw moonshine on his face. I did do that,” she confessed, referring to the high-proof, unaged alcoholic spirit.

Co-host Jon Caramanica then queried what Kroeger’s signature hairstyle looked like after the incident.

“Wrecked it. It was just a late night, and no one was in their best state,” the 42-year-old sighed, noting that that the moment wasn’t at all “playful.”

“I don’t know if we’re fine now – but I don’t care,” she declared.

However, as of yet, Kroeger, has not yet responded to the comments.

Back in 2014, Lambert’s then-husband, Blake Shelton, revealed in an interview for Rolling Stone that The House That Built Me singer wasn’t afraid to get involved in a bar fight.

“People always try to pop off or call her bluff at bars,” he divulged at the time. “One of them I don’t want to say the guy’s name, but he’s the lead singer of a very popular rock band. His initials are C.K.”

Miranda Lambert was married to fellow country singer Shelton from 2011 until they divorced in 2015. She then tied the knot with Brendan McLoughlin in 2019.

Most recently, the singer is expected to drop her tenth album, Crisco, on Friday, October 2, 2026.
